After filing, you need to serve your spouse and wait for their response.  

Once you’ve filed your divorce application, your spouse must be served with the documents. They have 30 days to respond if they reside in Canada (60 days if outside Canada). If they do not contest the divorce, you can proceed with an uncontested divorce and request a final divorce order from the court.
