AFCC-Ontario Parenting Plan Guide

The Ontario Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC-Ontario) created this Parenting Plan Guide to help parents and advisors develop child-focused parenting plans. It emphasizes cooperation and minimal conflict for the children’s best interests and provides guidance based on developmental research and practical insights. The Guide complements the AFCC-Ontario Parenting Plan Template and reflects the 2021 amendments to the Divorce Act and Children’s Law Reform. It acknowledges Canada’s diverse family dynamics and is a collaborative effort by AFCC-Ontario members and other professionals.

AFCC-O Parenting Plan Template

The AFCC-O Parenting Plan Template, developed by the Ontario Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, aids parents and advisors in creating child-focused parenting plans. It provides suggestions for clauses and complements the AFCC-O Parenting Plan Guide, which should be read first. The materials emphasize cooperation and reducing conflict for the children’s best interests. Developed with input from many professionals and supported by the Law Foundation of Ontario, the Template reflects the 2021 amendments to the Divorce Act and Children’s Law Reform Act.
